Answer: The United States did the right thing by dropping the bomb on Japan. By bombing Japan, it spared many American's lives. If the U.S. were to attack on the ground with an invasion, thousands, if not hundreds of thousands American soldiers may have been killed. Though civilians were killed, the attack on the civilians was unintentional. ”I have told the Sec. of War, Mr. Stimson, to use it so that military objectives and soldiers and sailors are the target and not women and children... The target will be a purely military one and we will issue a warning statement asking the Japs to surrender and save lives." This was said by Truman. The attack on civilians was unintentional.
