Answer: President Harry S. Truman, warned by some of his advisers that any attempt to invade Japan would result in horrific American casualties, which is why the Atom bombs were dropped.

Answer: The Japanese military command rejected the request for unconditional surrender. So we were forced to drop the Atomic bombs.
